Lieutenant General Mohamed Bariz, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Region, confirmed today, Wednesday in Salé, that the official delivery of the first batch of AH-64 (Apache) attack helicopters constitutes a qualitative leap in the process of strengthening the strategic partnership and strong military cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America.

The Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces said, in a speech during the ceremony of handing over six AH-64E Apache combat helicopters, which took place at the First Air Base of the Royal Air Forces in Salé, that “our success in achieving the completion of the Apache helicopter acquisition project is a new brick added to the edifice of our strong and deep-rooted relations.”

He explained that this also falls within the framework of the high instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, in order to “provide the Royal Armed Forces with advanced capabilities that have previously proven their effectiveness in the field.”

In this context, he highlighted the features of the Apache helicopter, which “enjoys a global reputation due to its technological superiority, as well as its accuracy and combat efficiency on the battlefield.”

He said that its integration into the Royal Armed Forces system will enhance “the capabilities of better defending our territorial unit and effectively contributing to achieving peace and security,” and “it will significantly strengthen the interoperability of the Royal Armed Forces and its American counterpart, thus facilitating better coordination in our joint maneuvers and training, especially during the annual African Lion exercise.”

He added, "The United States has always been a key partner to our country, and the arrival of these helicopters today strengthens our defense cooperation and demonstrates our shared commitment to a world in which peace is built through military preparedness and mutual assistance between allies and partners."

The Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces affirmed “the commitment of the Royal Armed Forces, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, to continue to fully invest in strengthening our bilateral cooperation ties, in order to be able to confront the common challenges that threaten regional and international peace and security.”

An important American delegation led by General Michael Langley, Commander of the US Africa Command (US AFRICOM), in addition to the Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Morocco, Amy Cotrona, also participated in this ceremony.
