Yesterday, Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Embassy of the United States of America in Rabat, the official launch of the Joint Program JTIP on “Protection and Reintegration of Victims of Human Trafficking” was announced, in partnership between the National Committee for Coordinating Actions to Combat and Prevent Human Trafficking (CNCLT) and the International Organization for Migration (OIM). The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the International Labor Organization (OIT), with financial support from the US State Department - Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, This was within the framework of a ceremony chaired by Mr. Puneet Talwar, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Hicham Mallati, Director of Criminal Affairs, Pardons and Crime Monitoring, in his capacity as the supervisory chair of the National Committee for Coordination of Actions to Combat and Prevent Human Trafficking, and Ms. Nathalie Fausté, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Morocco.


This was in the presence of ladies and gentlemen, members of the National Committee for Coordinating Measures to Combat and Prevent Human Trafficking, and a group of institutional actors concerned with the field of combating human trafficking, in addition to representatives of international organizations and civil society activities.


According to a report that NajibpressENG received a copy of today, this program falls within the framework of the efforts supervised by the National Committee for Coordination of Measures to Combat and Prevent Human Trafficking in the field of implementing procedures and measures to protect and assist victims of human trafficking in the context of downloading and activating the National Plan to Combat and Prevent Human Trafficking 2023. -2030, the strategic plan for download 2023-2026 in the field of protecting and caring for victims, especially with regard to activating the national mechanism for referral and care for victims of human trafficking.


He added, "This program will enable the provision of direct assistance services, temporary and urgent shelter for victims of human trafficking, and their socio-professional reintegration, through partnership agreements with civil society activities, in addition to return and reintegration programs, while strengthening the focus of legal and judicial assistance to victims. The focus will be during the implementation stages." The program focuses on capacity building activities as well as social and economic inclusion through recognition of acquired experience, improvement of skills and development of social enterprises.

In a speech on the occasion, Mr. Hisham Malaty explained that the program aims to enhance the protection and social and economic integration of victims of human trafficking into society through an effective national system centered around the victims to enable them to recover from the trauma of trafficking.


The same communication referred to the establishment of appropriate coordination mechanisms between the various actors in the field of combating human trafficking to ensure early monitoring and identification of victims and direct them correctly in order to take care of them and provide them with legal, social, economic and health services, provide their own shelters and enable them with means of reintegration.


He added, "After calling on all intervening parties to intensify efforts and bear joint responsibility in strengthening protection and prevention mechanisms for the benefit of victims of human trafficking, the Director of Criminal Affairs, Pardons and Crime Monitoring, Hisham Malati, pointed to continuous coordination with several government sectors, in order to enhance early monitoring, noting the positive involvement of all Concerned sectors and institutions that are making tremendous efforts to combat this phenomenon.
