Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance Abdellatif Hammouchi paid a working visit to the Austrian capital, Vienna, from May 6 to 8, heading a security delegation representing the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance.
This visit is part of the participation of a delegation from the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance in the 22nd Regional Meeting of Heads of Intelligence and Security Agencies from the Middle East and North Africa, as well as Turkey and Pakistan, organized by the United Nations Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team at the Vienna International Centre.
The participation of the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance in this multilateral security forum reflects the Kingdom of Morocco's commitment to strengthening regional and international security cooperation and its unwavering desire to share its expertise and pioneering experience in combating terrorism and cross-border crime with all friendly and allied countries and various international partners.
Discussions held during this meeting addressed developments in the leadership structures of ISIS and al-Qaeda in light of the loss of traditional strongholds and the growth of new branches and regional provinces, as well as a general assessment of the threats and risks posed by these organizations at the regional and international levels in the short, medium, and long term.
These discussions also examined emerging trends in the financial resources, weapons, and logistical equipment used by ISIS and al-Qaeda, including mechanisms for concealing and encrypting funds. They also monitored emerging updates to the propaganda, media strategy, and organizational communication methods within these terrorist organizations.
In parallel with these activities organized within the framework of multilateral cooperation, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance held extensive discussions within the framework of bilateral security cooperation relations with heads of delegations of security and intelligence agencies from several participating friendly countries, including Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates.
These bilateral discussions reviewed various security challenges and threats that require enhanced joint action to confront them and mitigate their risks. They also addressed ways to enhance security and intelligence cooperation to ensure the consolidation of security and the preservation of stability.
This visit once again confirms the distinguished position and effective role played by Morocco in the field of international security cooperation. It also reflects the credibility enjoyed by Moroccan security services among its regional and international partners as a key player in joint efforts to maintain global security and stability.
