The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, conducted a working visit to Belgium today, Thursday, at the head of an important security delegation that includes directors and executives from the central departments affiliated with the pole of the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance.
This visit falls within the program of mutual meetings between the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance and his counterparts in the Federal Police and Internal Security Service in Belgium, which looks to strengthen the mechanisms of joint cooperation in various fields of security and intelligence work. It also comes directly after the recent visit conducted to Morocco by the General Coordinator for Security. The State of Belgium, Mrs. Francisca Bustin, last November 25.
A statement from the Head of the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance stated that, during the course of this visit, Mr. Hammouchi held working sessions and bilateral discussions with Mr. Eric Snook, Commissioner General of the Belgian Federal Police, which dealt with various security issues of common concern, and discussed other threats and risks. As an embodiment of the common desire to improve bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the security field, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance and the Commissioner General of the Federal Police Service in Belgium signed a joint action plan that includes a bilateral action program for the interim period 2025 and 2026, in order to strengthen cooperation in the field of combating organized crime and terrorism. Coordinating efforts to process data on crossing border crossings and prosecuting persons sought internationally, As well as cooperation in the field of combating money laundering and confronting terrorist threats targeting sports events.
The same communication indicated that the joint action plan concluded between the two parties also specified the mechanisms for bilateral cooperation between the Moroccan security services and their Belgian counterparts, as well as the approved channels to facilitate the exchange of information and joint visits, in a way that ensures effectiveness, efficiency, and advancement of joint security work.
This visit embodies the strength of the bilateral cooperation that brings together the Kingdom of Morocco and Belgium in various security fields, especially in the field of combating terrorism and transnational organized crime. It also comes in a context marked by the strengthening and development of the existing security partnership between the Moroccan security services and their Belgian counterparts.
The communication concluded that this visit confirms, once again, the distinguished position and effective role played by Morocco in the field of international security cooperation, and also reflects the credibility enjoyed by Moroccan security interests with its European partners, as a key actor in joint efforts to maintain international security and stability.
