Google announces the creation of an artificial intelligence tool that provides weather forecasts with unprecedented accuracy✍️👇👇👇

The American company Google announced the creation of an artificial intelligence tool capable of providing weather forecasts over a 15-day period with unprecedented accuracy, in light of the increasing climate disasters.

Google confirmed that the GenCast tool, which was created by DeepMind, a laboratory specializing in artificial intelligence research affiliated with the major technology company, showed “better predictive capabilities” than the current reference model.

The European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts currently issues forecasts for 35 countries and is considered a global standard for accuracy in this field.

Google explained that Genecast exceeds the center's forecasts in more than 97 percent of the 1,320 climate disasters recorded in 2019 on which the two models were tested.

Google noted in a statement that “GenCast provides better forecasts of daily weather conditions and extreme events 15 days in advance.”

According to Google, Genecast "systematically" outperformed the current reference model in predicting extreme heat, extreme cold, and violent wind speeds.

Google believes that more accurate forecasts of extreme weather risks help authorities protect additional numbers of people and avoid serious property damage.
