The directorate confirmed, in a statement today, Sunday, that the government has strengthened the direct support program with a group of social programs, including universal health coverage (4.2 million families benefiting from Amu-Tadamon), and the housing support program (330 thousand families over 3 years). ), as well as the announcement of raising the wages of employees and workers in the public and private sectors as part of the April 2024 round of social dialogue, which will contribute to raising the purchasing power of more than 4 million Moroccan families.
According to this reform perspective, the Competition, Prices and Clearing Directorate adds, the subsidy will be partially reduced by 2.5 dirhams for a 3-kg butane gas bottle, and 10 dirhams for a 12-kg butane gas bottle.
The same communication explained that the partial reform of the butane gas price subsidy system is taking place within the framework of implementing the direct social support program (3.6 million beneficiary families as of last April), based on the principle of more effective targeting of families deserving of support through the unified social registry. .
In this context, the same source confirms that the comprehensive reform of the social protection system will continue through the implementation of Framework Law No. 09.21 related to social protection, issued in the Official Gazette on March 23, 2021, whose eighth article stipulates that the social support program The direct financing is through the compilation and dissemination of various social programmes, in addition to the partial reform of the clearing fund, as the government has allocated 80 billion dirhams by the year 2026 to finance various social programmes, in addition to downloading the outcomes of the social dialogue, especially raising the wages of employees and wage earners. .
