The Minister in charge of relations with Parliament, the official spokesman for the government, Mustafa Paytas, reported yesterday, Thursday, that the number of applications submitted to benefit from housing support, as of February 27 of this year, amounted to about 51,900 applications, which reflects the growing interest in this program.
The Minister Baytas, in his response to a question about the latest developments in benefiting from the housing support program, during a press interview following the government council meeting, explained that 75 percent of these requests concern housing in the category of less than 300 thousand dirhams, and 25 percent in the category between 300 dirhams. One thousand and 700 thousand dirhams, including 81 percent in Morocco, and 19 percent from Moroccans residing abroad.
The same spokesman added that 37 percent of applications were submitted by women and 63 percent by men, while the average age of applicants for benefits is 41 years, indicating that for applications by prefecture and region, the city of Fez ranks first, followed, respectively, by Meknes. Tangier, Marrakesh, Berrechid, Skhirat, Kenitra and Salรฉ, in particular.
The minister highlighted that the government evaluated previous programs to determine the extent of their contribution to helping social classes that need support in order to acquire housing, which prompted it to adopt a new approach based on supporting demand instead of supporting supply and is carried out in accordance with a number of controls and with a group of partners, including National banks, notaries, and various competent authorities supervise this process.
