The King Mohammed VI sent a congratulatory message to world champion Widad Bartal on her victory in the 52-54 kg women's world boxing championship at the 2025 Serbia Games.
In this telegram to world champion Bartal, the King expressed his warm congratulations and blessings following this coronation.
His Majesty's telegram read, "As we share with you, with great joy, the feelings of pride in this well-deserved victory, which crowned your perseverance and ambition to carry your country's flag high on the podiums and cement your name in the record of champions, we pray to God to grant you further brilliance and success in future competitions."
In a related context, Moroccan boxer Widad Bartal confirmed on Tuesday in Casablanca that winning the Women's World Boxing Championship (Serbia 2025) will motivate her to achieve a similar accomplishment at the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.
The Moroccan champion explained, in a press statement following the arrival of the Moroccan national team participating in the Women's World Boxing Championship at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, that the competition was somewhat difficult, especially in the final match against Turkey's Hatice Akbas, the 2022 world champion and silver medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which she won on points (5 to 2).
“I dedicate this award to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and to the Moroccan people,” said Bartal, who qualified for the final of the 52-54 kg category after defeating Serbian Sara Cerkovic 4-3 in the semi-finals, expressing her thanks to everyone who contributed, directly or indirectly, to her achievement of this accomplishment.
For his part, the Moroccan women's boxing team's coach, Ahmed Barki, pointed out that the results achieved in the last tournament are the result of significant efforts, explaining that the preparatory camps held at the Bourkon Center in Casablanca and Azemmour, as well as in Serbia and Montenegro, provided the Moroccan female boxers with the opportunity to meet and interact with female boxers from different countries.
Barki emphasized that Moroccan boxing has a promising future, noting that the Moroccan national team includes players with extensive experience and expertise, as well as younger players who will carry the torch and make their mark in the future.
It's worth noting that this World Women's Boxing Championship, hosted by Niš, Serbia, from March 8 to 16, was also marked by Moroccan Oumaima Semlali winning the award for Best Referee.
