Today, Monday, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé, an agreement was signed to officially host Morocco as the headquarters of the Association of African Football Clubs.
This agreement was signed by the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fawzi Lakjaa, and the President of the African Clubs Association, Hirsi Ali Saeed.
At the beginning of the signing ceremony, which was attended, in particular, by members of the association’s executive office and the university’s administrative office, Mr. Lakjaa thanked the members of the continental body for choosing the Kingdom to host its headquarters, adding, “This is a big day for African football.” “We will bring with you the birth of an institution that will revolutionize football at club level.”
He added, “We will work together to improve the continental competitions, whether the Champions League or the Confederation Cup, as well as marketing and bringing in more resources that enable the development of the clubs,” noting that the latter faces the challenge of competing with the major clubs this year in the World Club Championship, which requires qualifying capabilities. .
He also stressed that the African Clubs Association will find in Morocco not only the necessary logistical capabilities to facilitate its operation, but also the appropriate climate and unconditional support to implement the development plan it aspires to achieve.
For his part, Mr. Hirsi Said expressed his pride in signing the agreement to host the headquarters of the African Clubs Association with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, stressing that this is a major achievement that strengthens Morocco’s position on the continent.
He pointed out that the establishment of the African Clubs Association came at the initiative of the Confederation of African Football, with the support of its Executive Council, with the aim of uniting the continent’s clubs and enhancing cooperation between them in order to address various challenges and find creative solutions to develop the game.
He explained that choosing Morocco reflects great confidence in its ability to support the development of African football, stressing that this step will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the continent’s clubs and launching new initiatives to advance the game.
He recorded that Morocco came at the top of the countries that expressed their desire to host the headquarters of the African Clubs Association, praising the distinguished offer it made and through which it demonstrated its ability to provide all the capabilities to support the work of the Association.
The signing of this agreement falls within the framework of the role played by the African Clubs Association to promote club football at the continental level.
The Kingdom of Morocco was chosen to host the association’s headquarters due to its firm commitment to developing football on the continental level, as well as its influence in Africa and internationally, which is evident in its strategic location, the infrastructure it has, and its ability to unite African clubs and enable them with advanced means of work for a better future. And raising its level to new heights on the global stage.
Last year, the Confederation of African Football officially announced the establishment of the African Clubs Association, and Hirsi Ali Saeed, president of the Tanzanian Young Africans Club, was elected as its president.
