The Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, reported today, Monday, in the House of Representatives, that more than 3 million residents of rural areas and villages have benefited from programs to break isolation from the rural world.

Baraka explained, in his answer to a question during the oral question session about “breaking isolation in the rural world,” presented by the Progress and Socialism Team, and presented on its behalf by the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mahdi Bensaïd, that these programs were implemented through the first national program for rural roads on A length of 11 thousand kilometers with a financial cover exceeding 7 billion dirhams, noting that “thanks to it, the accessibility index was raised to 54 percent instead of 34 percent.”

The government official continued that a second national program for rural roads was completed in partnership with territorial communities along a length of 15,500 kilometers with a financial cover of 15 billion dirhams from 2005-2015, explaining that it enabled the accessibility index to exceed 80 percent.

The same speaker pointed out that launching various specific programs to break the isolation from the rural world is based on the criteria of distance from roads, the number of families in each district, roads of socio-economic importance, and access to main services.
