The British Minister of State in charge of the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and the United Nations, Lord Tariq Ahmed Wimbledon, confirmed today, Wednesday in Rabat, that the United Kingdom and Morocco fully agree that peace and security in the Middle East passes through the two-state solution.
Lord Tariq Ahmed said, in a statement to the press following discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, that the United Kingdom and Morocco consider that the ultimate goal must be a two-state solution, where an Israeli state lives side by side with a Palestinian state in peace and security. .
He added that Rabat and London “will work together in this direction,” with their main partners, especially the United States and the Gulf countries, acknowledging that “it is a difficult period, but we must never lose hope.”
In the same context, the British Minister touched on the “human tragedy in Gaza,” explaining that Morocco and the United Kingdom will work together to find a solution to this situation.
On the other hand, Lord Tariq Ahmed highlighted that the ties between the United Kingdom and Morocco are “stronger than they have ever been,” pointing out that they are “not only based on mutual trust,” but also on the weight that the two kingdoms represent.
The British minister pointed out that the two countries are working on many issues of common interest.
